Day of Play

Today my work crew from New Brunswick headed to Passaic County to volunteer at their Day of Play.

I'd never been to Garret Mountain Reservation, but it was great to wander around.

The focus of the day was to encourage children, and their families, to be active, eat well, and focus on health.

I helped chaperone a hike led by a local Girl Scout troop.

It was a bit uncanny to come down from the mountain and walk through Paterson, NJ with our group. This city was once a thriving center of industry, but now the city is facing economic hardships.

You can see from the building exteriors that there was once prosperity here, but they've fallen into serious disrepair.

It's easy to get overwhelmed at all the community work that needs doing. Like anything else, it needs to happen one step at a time...
